Tina Pink – Pinktiques

Tina Pink – Pinktiques

In our latest Meet The Trader, we have the pleasure of hearing from the lovely Tina Pink from Pinktiques.  Tina is missing the markets (like us all)… hopefully we will see you back before too long!

Q-  How long have you been trading at Sunbury Antiques Market?

A- I’ve been trading at Kempton on and off for about three years but now, on a permanent basis.

Q- What did you previously do before starting in the antiques trade?

A-  Before starting the antique business I had my own slimming club which my partner still runs called slim with the pinks it’s for very overweight people.

Q- What is your most memorable moment at Kempton (maybe something funny)?

A- My most memorable memory at Kempton …. well this is quite funny… a lady who looked exceptionally well dressed came to me and said I love that! Looked at it then clicked her fingers called a man over and then said pay her!  She never even asked how much!  The item was £450 the man came over said how much, I told him and he paid. I’ve no idea who she was, and I’ve never seen her since. It was the strangest sale I’ve ever made.

Q- What’s the best find you’ve ever had here?

A- I bought a very large cloisonné vase. I put it in the front of Robs van as I was only buying that day and he was inundated with people asking him about it! Anyway, I paid £250 on Tuesday, and then the following Sunday, I sold it for £1400!

Q- What significant changes have you seen in the trade?

A- Significant changes? Not much,  but I guess the most change for me is I can’t sell anything “normal” like China or glass it has to be weird or dead for me to be able to sell.

Q- What’s your style?

A- My style is weird and wonderful!  People tend to look for me because I have stuff most people would leave behind!

Q- Any key items currently for sale?

A-  I have Afghanistan crown which is fabulous and stunning Peking glass belt.

Q- What brings you back time and again?

A- Why will I be back next time ?! … I love it!! People who come, people who organise it,  all lovely people (yes that’s you!).

Q- What is the one thing you cannot live without?

A- I can’t live without the fairs much longer – Lol!  But apart from that,  I also couldn’t live without my friends!
