Paul Clark – Bingham Clark Antiques
Q- How long have you been trading at Sunbury Antiques Market?
A- Since about 2014 but in the trade for many years before that.
Q- What did you previously do before starting in the antiques trade?
A – A career in the legal profession but a lifelong love of antiques and history.
Q- What is your most memorable moment at Kempton (maybe something funny)?
A- Too many to mention but there are memorable moments at every Kempton with the people that come along as well as the items on display!
Q- What’s the best find you’ve ever had here?
A- Again, there are too many to mention but one that comes to mind was a Titanic era First Class White Star Line Jug. The best find is still out there!
Q- What significant changes have you seen in the trade?
A- There are no longer any rules, so-called traditional antiques can sit perfectly in a contemporary setting. It is crucial to attract and welcome new buyers especially the younger generation. The bohemian vibe at Kempton can help to do this. Antiques have a low carbon footprint thus are environmentally friendly.
Q- What’s your style?
A- Eclectic and informal but with a love of history. A born again Luddite but embracing modern technology.
Q- Any key items currently for sale?
A- Have a look at the photos – these are all currently for sale!
Q- What brings you back time and again?
A- The challenge of selling and never knowing what you will find. My biggest thrill is returning customers who tell me how much they like their purchases.
Q- What is the one thing you cannot live without?
A- Apart from my nearest and dearest: Loud rock music, tennis, wildlife/countryside and a good pint of beer!
